Day in the Life: Marianna, Global Salesforce Expert

Originally from Brazil she now lives in Barcelona. She changed career into tech and landed her first job as a ‘global salesforce specialist’ and even got to speak at Trailhead DX last year in Barcelona about her journey.

Marianna

Mariana decided to upskill and launch her Salesforce career because..

I had one of those jobs that paid the bills and allowed me to have reduced hours to pick up my kids. I also had a big impact in people’s lives, but I was stuck, and it was very consuming in terms of energy.

A friend reminded me that change is within reach if we want it and told me about Salesforce. She was doing the Supermums course and told meabout the flexibility, the projects, and the personal and professional growth. I was pregnant at the time, and I thought it was a good idea, so I signed up. The course started a couple of weeks after my son was born.

Mariana decided to upskill in Salesforce Admin Course with Supermums because..

You need someone to guide you and to get you to the other side, to be able to do the job. The best factor was the level of the training and the trainers, their availability and knowledge, and having the right tools to perform the right things. We covered everything we needed and gained confidence in the process.

I had a Supermums Trainer here in Barcelona, and she did a lot of mentoring, and made the connection for me to find my current job!

It was great to being able to do the work experience project remotely with me being in Spain. It was essential for me. It was great to see everything in context, with an amazing overview with living examples in the project.

Mariana was able to launch her new Salesforce career successfully because….

You can learn alone, you can go to Salesforce user groups, but there’s nothing like the kind of experience you can get in a formal training programme like Supermums.

I had to build an org from scratch for my work experience project and to convince people that it was a great idea, and sometimes you have to really sell it. This happened in the project, and it happens to me now in my job. Sometimes people are used to doing things the way there are, and they might say ‘but it’s going to be more work for me; what’s in it for me?’, and that is something we always have to have in mind – what is in it for the user.

Not only did I learn everything I needed to do the job properly, and with the work experience and training, but I also got my current job through the Supermums Team . Supermums were amazing in that – from day one – they showed us a view of what Salesforce means for a company, not just from a technological view, but in terms of change management and digital change, and they showed us how you achieve it.

Mariana has now successfully achieved a Salesforce career that offers them..

I currently work as a Global Salesforce Specialist at Hillebrand in Barcelona, which is a beverage industry logistics company. I focus on Admin work, and support 500 users globally helping them daily to fix issues and identify improvements to present to the product team.

There aren’t so many project contracts here in Spain. When you are offered a job, they will always say it’s a fixed contract, it’s full time and office based. I have a full-time job in a company which provides stability, and at the same time, it’s a small team across three different countries, so it’s possible to work from home from time to time.

I really enjoy working with people; the energy, the fact that we can help them get the best from Salesforce. That’s what is most important for me – to be able to listen to their needs and to transform those needs into new features.
