Day in the Life: Kerry – Making a career change to Salesforce has given me 100% flexibility to work from home and look after my children.

Kerry, originally from Northern Ireland but now living in Salisbury, UK, left her job in event partnerships for a non-profit after recognising on maternity leave that she needed a much more flexible career to work around family life. She now works as Salesforce Consultant for the Halo Trust, a non-profit clearing mines and protecting lives.

Kerry's Story

  • Course: Salesforce Admin Course
  • Region: EMEA
  • Sector: Charitable Organisations
  • Job Title: Salesforce Consultant
  • Works: The Halo Trust
  • Lives: United Kingdom
Kerry, originally from Northern Ireland but now living in Salisbury, UK, left her job in the non-profit sector after recognising on maternity leave that she needed a much more flexible career to work around family life.

She didn’t want to go back to university, and also required something that would allow her to study from home, study around the children, and only took six months, so when she found the Supermums course, it ticked all the boxes.

What Kerry loved most about the Supermums Programme was…

‘100% the community and the people. The people on my course, the Supermum’s team, the Salesforce community generally. I have never felt so empowered or championed to succeed. It’s an incredible community to walk into and to be welcomed with open arms, and it’s amazing to still be a part of it.

There’s no way I could have sat on Trailhead and achieved the level of learning or knowledge that I now have without the Supermums team behind me.

Kerry’s experience with the Supermums recruitment team was…

‘I felt really fortunate to be able to work with the Superman recruitment team following completion of the course.  I just think it’s fantastic that you’re not just sort of sent out there into the world on your own, that you have this other whole army of Supermums and the recruitment arm who are there really working with you, trying to help you land your first role. So again, you just feel really championed to succeed. Ultimately, my success is Superman’s success. On a practical level, the recruitment team were brilliant at suggesting suitable roles for me, keeping me in mind for suitable roles, putting me forward for suitable roles, and giving me feedback during the interview process.’

Kerry successfully relaunched a new career with Salesforce because…

‘It has given me the flexibility that I really want at this point in my life. My career is incredibly important to me, however my children will always come first, and a career in Salesforce has been incredible in that I’ve not had to sacrifice family time. I can have a career, use my brain, and still be there to collect my daughter from school and my son from nursery.

Another thing I would say about Salesforce is the opportunities for career progression are enormous. My children aren’t always going to be 5 and 2, and I know there is so much potential out there to progress my career when the time comes. It really excites me to know I’ve entered a career and space where I think it’s really what you make of it, and opportunities are there for the taking.’
