Samantha, from Zimbabwe, has been Portfolio Manager for a leading UK education consultancy for the past 8 years. After starting to feel unfulfilled and stagnant in her role, she decided to identify and hone in on the parts of her job that she really enjoyed and then look at upskilling in these areas to start feeling re-invigorated in her career again.

After realising her passion and strengths lay in interaction with customers and the management of those relationships, she took a short course in customer experience management, which is where she learnt about Salesforce. This led her to explore opportunity to learn more about Salesforce, and that’s when she came across Supermums. Samantha is currently taking the Salesforce Admin course.

Samantha decided to join the Supermums programme because…

“Training in Salesforce really spoke to the career journey I had mapped out for myself. So when I came across Supermums, I loved the idea of a big cohort of women all learning together; that was such a huge appeal for me. Since I’ve been training for a couple of months now, there are so many elements of Supermums that are contributing to my training success.

For me, the accountability is the biggest part of achieving success with Supermums. I have a mentor who guides me through the programme in such an effective way as I’m not always as self-disciplined as I’d like to be.

I also like the learning route we use. It’s interactive, practical, and I love the hands-on experience I’m getting to supplement the theory side of the course.”

Samantha’s goals after completing the course are…

“Recently I did a Trail (module) where I was able to learn about the various options available to me after this training. What really resonated with me was the option to go down the Salesforce Administration route. I enjoy  helping people solve their problems, making things seamless for them through appropriate solutions. I’m recently married so am looking for stability in my life at the moment, which being a Salesforce Administrator offers. However, later in life I can see myself going down the Salesforce Consultancy route. I want to become known as an expert in my country regarding Salesforce!”

Samantha successfully balances the Salesforce course whilst having a full-time job by…

“The first few weeks whilst finding my footing was hectic, especially being in a different time zone. However, I structured my days, and made sure I put in time every day focused solely on the course. I think it’s also important to let your family know this is what I’m going to be doing for the next few months so they can support you, and you can put contingencies in place with them to ensure you manage your time most efficiently.

Having a mentor also helps me ensure I take responsibility for my work and push forward in the course by completing the work when it needs to be done. My mentor is amazing. She’s relatable and offers me so much support and expertise when I’m having a wobble. It feels like I’m walking with someone on this journey.”
