Daniel, from the West Midlands in England, was working for Coventry university as an Customer Service Advisor when he was accidently promoted to a Salesforce Admin. His manager suggested he look for a Salesforce Admin course to supplement his new role, which is when a colleague recommended Supermums.

At first he thought, ‘I’m not a mum, I’m not sure this is suited to me’, however as soon as he’d finished his first session with Nikki, the Supermums Training Manager, he was sold. 2 years later, he is now Functional Consultant for Smart Cloud Consultants, helping lead Smart Cloud on their support services.

Daniel really made use of the Supermums recruitment team to progress his career by…

‘I was at the point where I’d been at Coventry University for a few years, and I was sure there was something more out there, I just wasn’t sure where to get it or what it was. Then I saw a LinkedIn post on the Supermums account about ‘Jobs of the Week’ and thought, why have I not signed up to this yet. So I signed up, and was immediately offered a Zoom call by Melanie, the General Manager for Recruitment.

I was shown jobs that were not open to the public market, and I straight away set my sights on a Salesforce consultancy role because I knew I wanted to be surrounded by the expertise of people that have been in the industry for a long time. Because I was new to the Salesforce ecosystem, and didn’t have the experience to be put forward for a consultancy role, I didn’t believe I’d be able to go for a role like that yet. However Melanie threw my CV in the ring for a Functional Consultant job role, and with the amazing support from Melanie through the interview process, I was offered the role!

Daniel has now successfully achieved a Salesforce career that offers him…

‘The ability to use my problem solving skills! My role as Functional Consultant is very similar to my Salesforce Admin role in that both require problem solving which I love. As an Admin, you are working with one organisation, and really living that organisation. However working as a Functional Consultant, you are juggling several clients,  which means the your juggling several problems!

I also love the flexibility. At the moment I work remotely, so I have the flexibility to work from co-working spaces, cafes, or just from home. Having seen many of the job roles offered within Salesforce, I know this industry is incredible flexible, and everyone is happy working from where they want. It’s great to have the autonomy to manage your own working schedule.

Finally, I’m very excited to see where my Salesforce career goes. I’ve got my sights set up becoming a Salesforce Architect,  and I’m now in a place where I’m surrounded by people that can help get me there. I’m now also a Supermums mentor, and I’m excited to see where my mentee goes in an industry with endless possibilities.
