Daniel – From Customer Service Advisor to Salesforce Functional Consultant in just two years
Daniel's Story
-
Course: Salesforce Admin Course
-
Region: EMEA
-
Sector: Business Services
-
Job Title: Functional Consultant
-
Works: Smart Cloud Consultants
-
Lives: United Kingdom
At first, he thought, “I’m not a mum, I’m not sure this is suited to me”. However, as soon as he’d finished his first session with Nikki, the Supermums Training Manager, he was sold. Two years later, he is now Functional Consultant for Smart Cloud Consultants, helping lead Smart Cloud on their support services.
Daniel really made use of the Supermums recruitment team to progress his career by…
“I was at the point where I’d been at Coventry University for a few years and I was sure there was something more out there, I just wasn’t sure where to get it or what it was. Then I saw a LinkedIn post on the Supermums account about ‘Jobs of the Week’ and thought, why have I not signed up to this yet? So I signed up and was immediately offered a Zoom call by Melanie, the General Manager for Recruitment.
I was shown jobs that were not on the open market yet and straight away I set my sights on a Salesforce consultancy role because I knew I wanted to be surrounded by the expertise of people who had been in the industry for a long time. Because I was new to the Salesforce ecosystem and didn’t have the experience to be put forward for a consultancy role, I didn’t believe I’d be able to go for a role like that yet. However, Melanie threw my CV into the ring for a Functional Consultant role and with her amazing support through the interview process, I was offered the job!
Daniel has now successfully achieved a Salesforce career that offers him…
‘The ability to use my problem-solving skills! My role as Functional Consultant is very similar to my Salesforce Admin role in that both require problem-solving, which I love. As an Admin, you’re working with one organisation and really living that organisation. However, working as a Functional Consultant, you’re juggling several clients, which means you’re juggling several problems!
I also love the flexibility. At the moment I work remotely so I have the freedom to work from co-working spaces, cafes, or just from home. Having seen many of the job roles offered within Salesforce, I know this industry is incredibly flexible, and everyone is happy working from wherever they want. It’s great to have the autonomy to manage your own working schedule.
Finally, I’m very excited to see where my Salesforce career goes. I’ve got my sights set on becoming a Salesforce Architect and I’m now in a place where I’m surrounded by people who can help get me there. I’m now also a Supermums mentor and I’m excited to see where my mentee goes in an industry with endless possibilities.

“We have been really pleased with the quality of candidates that Supermums have put forward for us to consider for our newly created role in our Salesforce team. We were offered three fantastic candidates to consider and interviewed them all. It made the decision between them very difficult. Supermums absolutely understood our brief for a candidate and really delivered. Thanks to all the team and look forward to working together again soon.”

The Supermums team are a joy to work with and I look forward to working with them in the future”
“It’s been nearly 3 weeks since I spoke to Supermums Recruitment about how to improve my LinkedIn profile. I’m so confident about myself now, next step is to polish my Salesforce portfolio by adding all the mini projects I’ve done so far and display them on LinkedIn. You are superstars , thanks heaps for your help!”
Gaining an insight into working with a project manager was useful and interesting as this is a world that i have never worked in before

It was a really good start to using Salesforce, in a real life system during my work experience

Supermums reminded me that I’m still me. I still have all of those strengths and can apply them in any role in Salesforce. I really felt that having someone be your champion and encourage you to see the strengths that you bring to the table, that and the Supermums community….it’s life changing!
“After completing my Admin Cert I really wanted the skills to design new systems and respond to different stakeholder needs throughout the CRM implementation process. I’ve really enjoyed the Consultancy Skills course as it has given me the confidence to deliver with a clear implementation process for projects, with tools and techniques. It’s a great flexible course to fit around my schedule with also the option to stay in touch via chatter and the weekly group coaching sessions.”
I enrolled on the Supermums Marketing Cloud course because I wanted to update my marketing technology skills and gain some hands on experience in Salesforce Marketing Cloud. I have learnt so much and the course has increased my knowledge and confidence about Salesforce and marketing automation technology!
I wanted to supercharge my Salesforce learning but i needed a training course that would offer the guidance and accountability that I needed. I saw Heather at Dreamforce and was so impressed with her passion and vision but more importantly, I was impressed by the structure of the Supermums programme.
As someone re-entering the workforce, I’ve really needed to pivot my focus. The Circle of Life map was very eye opening which led me to really reflect on what it may look like or what I may WANT it to look like as I embark on this new season of life. I also spent quite a bit of time reflecting on my values and turning them into more affirmations. I still have a goal to get more consistent with my journaling but the exercises have inspired me to start again and has given me a guide or roadmap for my journaling. The tools have helped me to focus on a mind set shift necessary to achieve my goals with a new career.
I love the hands on tools and homework :)! I love listening to webinars and podcasts but actually being given tools to put it into practice forces me to take action. And then seeing my thoughts and goals and reflections on paper feels like a first step in making them real. Having the bi-monthly calls is great for accountability! Last but not least, the guidance and instruction is delivered in a very thoughtful way. It isn’t intimidating or overwhelming. It’s like getting really sound advice from a friend.
I immediately ordered a success journal after listening to the Supermums coaching session. I’m now thinking of my Trello lists in a whole new way. Thanks Zoe, Heather and all the Supermum participants. I love the way the sessions always give us practical tasks to try. Easy but transformative.
One of the highlights of my fortnight at the moment is definitely the Supermums Coaching call! Heather clearly has a wealth of knowledge and expertise with respect to coaching and this always comes across in the coaching calls. The calls cover numerous tools and techniques, all of which are explained clearly.
Heather herself has a very open and welcoming style, which I’ve found has resonated with me much more than some other type of coaching I’ve been exposed to in the past. The calls are a wonderfully supportive forum for self-improvement and I look forward to reaping more benefits from them in the future!
Personally, the coaching priceless!! I would imagine many of us can benefit from coaching in various aspects of our lives, however, when someone is re-entering the workforce after an extended hiatus or perhaps up-skilling and changing career paths, it’s priceless! Both situations can cause a bit of an “identity crisis” and coaching helps individuals really dig down and identify their fears and insecurities and build upon them to become strengths. It’s like having a big sister or mentor by your side for the journey to keep encouraging you and challenging you and giving you tips to grow and become more confident in your abilities.
I think the best thing about it so far is the quality of the information because everything has been relevant to me and I wish I knew it all before I started working as a solo Salesforce Admin! The format of the course is working well for me because it’s all videos which I watch when I have spare time. The course is preparing me to do demos and presentations in real life with clients.I I would recommend it to anyone who has just passed their Admin Cert.
After completing my Admin Cert I really wanted the skills to design new systems and respond to different stakeholder needs throughout the CRM implementation process. I’ve really enjoyed the Consultancy Skills course as it has given me the confidence to deliver with a clear implementation process for projects, with tools and techniques. It’s a great flexible course to fit around my schedule with also the option to stay in touch via chatter and the weekly group coaching sessions.
The Consultancy Skills course has been a very informative experience. The course is very well structured and organized in order to guide through all the steps of an implementation process with Salesforce. Lots of valuable detailed information, templates, and checklists that will make any consultant’s life easier and deliver the best quality of work.
The Consultancy Programme has given me practical resources, and new language and concepts to use with clients and teams I interact with. I have felt much more confident, for example, describing the Agile Project Management methodology and catering for different learning styles. Having a greater understanding of change management has also allowed me to gain greater buy-in by senior leadership. I am excited to continue scale my consultancy work in the months and years ahead.
I am so glad that I listened to my intuition when I decided to take the leap and apply for a place on the MC course. This is definitely the sign for someone out there GO FOR IT!.
Supermums is one of the best Salesforce authorised vendors out there to get trained in Salesforce.
I have had such a great experience with Supermums. We discussed what courses might be appropriate for me and during the lockdown I took the opportunity to add to my consultancy and marketing skills. I am delighted that I made the decision to do these courses as I gained theoretical and practical hands on experience and had the opportunity to work with Supermums consultancy partners. If I need to upskill again, I will certainly be doing it with Supermums
Thank you so much to the trainers and the recruitment team for supporting me. I got offered a MC internship shortly after completing the course. I am so excited….i wanted to share the good news and to say thank you for motivating me!
I enrolled on the Supermums Marketing Cloud course because I wanted to update my marketing technology skills and gain some hands on experience. I have learnt so much and the course has increased my knowledge about Salesforce and marketing automation technology. Thank you Supermums for the work experience opportunity – I really enjoyed our time together and I can’t wait to apply this knowledge in my role.
Thank you for all of your support during the Admin & Marketing Cloud courses. The Supermums sessions were so enjoyable, well presented and you definitely were a big part of my success in passing two Salesforce certifications!
The trainer was amazing, so patient and great at explaining more technical topics. The most valuable part of the course for me was access to the trail orgs which meant i was able to put into practice the theory learnt. I also thought the structure of once a week virtual lessons followed by homework worked really well.

I saw Heather at Dreamforce and was so impressed with her passion and vision. But more importantly, I was impressed by the structure of the Supermums program.
I’m a mega Supermums fan! From training right through to placement, their robust framework enables mums and dads to retrain, upskill and find their next career. What really appeals is the inclusive environment and comprehensive support structures. I LOVE Supermums!
My mentor had valuable experience and as she reviewed my course work weekly and she shared tips and tricks about how to do things faster and more effectively. I was able to do exceptionally well at my work because i had her by my side! Thank you!
The reason I always vouch for the Supermums program is because of the support I got, the confidence that my mentor instilled in me and the kind of assignments I did prepared me very well. When I started my job there was nothing I didn’t know how to do or to figure out. I had been doing much of it in my Supermums program already. Supermums is the best place to start and if you join the program you will be prepared to do well in your job search.
I found the Supermums format helped to keep me on track and accountable as i had weekly deadlines to complete the learning objectives and homework. Having the support of a mentor was great as she helped me when I got stuck or needed guidance.
I like how the course is structured and your own personal mentor provides feedback, tips and advice on how to perform tasks. With Supermums, anyone can learn Salesforce!
I really liked having a group of people to work with and learn from. Also being able to interact with the tutors was really useful as some other courses are just pre-recorded but Supermums lessons are taught live and you can watch them back
Gaining an insight into working with a project manager was useful and interesting as this is a world that i have never worked in before
Wow, you know I was debating between different courses I could take and I am so impressed with the structure of the Supermums course. I definitely made the right decision!
The format of the course in terms of being in a specific cohort with weekly webinars and homework really worked for me as it gave me focus
It was great having a group of people to learn with. We all have different backgrounds and are at different levels, but we were able to support each other. I also had a mentor that I met with every week online. It was really useful to have some 1-2-1 time to ask questions and get help if I needed it.
I’m was so happy to be featured in the Day in the Life series! I’ve enjoyed reading past features and have used those in my decision making process re: joining the Supermums Admin training program, so it feels like an honor to be able to help others.
“I’ve come across a lot of recruiters in the last couple of months when I transitioned from a tech support role to a Salesforce professional one. Paula is one of my best recruiter experiences. She was always very professional, understood my work requirements and even contacted me first thing when she saw a job posted that would match my needs. She regularly contacted me with job offers and her cheerful personality made the whole experience the best it can be. Supermoms is one of the best Salesforce professional recruiter services in the UK”
“I would happily recommend Supermums recruitment services to anyone. They helped me land my first paid role on my Salesforce journey, for which, I am extremely grateful. From our first conversation I felt I was dealing with a team who were attentive, shown genuine interest in making my search a success and had integrity. Throughout my search they provided excellent guidance and helped my preparation in a wholly efficient and professional manner. I would happily recommend Supermums services to anyone.”
