When AI Put Her Job at Risk, Tamsin Built a New Career in AI and Tech with Supermums

When AI started replacing parts of my freelance work, I realised my career was no longer secure. As a career returner who had been out of the traditional workplace for more than a decade, I needed a future-proof direction and a pathway that made sense for my skills and my family life. Retraining with Supermums helped me build a new career in AI and tech with confidence, opening the door to meaningful work, progression, and the chance to step into AI rather than be replaced by it.

Previous Role → New Role

Career Break + Freelance Project Work → Salesforce Administrator (Non-Profit Sector)

“Supermums genuinely wanted me to succeed — as an individual, not just a trainee. That made all the difference.”

Why I Decided to Launch a New Career in AI

I left my previous career in 2010 while pregnant with my first child and relocating to Southeast Asia. What I expected to be a short break turned into 13 years abroad, three children, and a mix of freelance project work.

A few years ago, everything shifted. AI tools were advancing quickly, and the SEO and copywriting work I relied on was becoming automated. My workload dropped. Clients needed less support. My income became unpredictable.

It was a turning point: AI was putting my work at risk, and I needed a more secure future.

I wanted financial stability, career progression and meaningful work — but returning to the job market after a decade away felt overwhelming. I applied for roles I knew I could do but heard nothing. I applied for junior roles and was told I was “too experienced.”

I felt stuck. An email landed in my inbox from Career Returners about a webinar showcasing new career opportunities hosted by Supermums.

I attended the Supermums webinar with Heather, and everything clicked. Even though I’d never worked in tech and had never heard of Salesforce, the pathway finally made sense. Salesforce was everywhere, in every sector, and it embraced AI in a way that created opportunity instead of erasing it.

For the first time in years, I felt hopeful and motivated to take action.

Why I Chose Salesforce to Relaunch Into AI and Tech

Salesforce felt like the perfect fit because it offered:

  • A thriving global ecosystem

  • Clear career pathways and certifications

  • Opportunities across every industry

  • Strong remote and flexible working options

  • A future tightly connected with AI and data

Salesforce wasn’t being replaced by AI — it was growing because of it. That shift helped me see a career I could genuinely thrive in.

I joined the Salesforce Administrator Course with Supermums and passed my Admin Certification in July.

Why I Chose Supermums to Launch my New Career

Supermums stood out because they didn’t just train me — they supported my entire career relaunch.

Here’s what made the biggest difference:

  • Personalised career clinics to improve my CV and LinkedIn

  • A supportive cohort of returners juggling work, kids, and study

  • Weekly structured learning that kept everything manageable

  • A dedicated mentor

  • Webinars, events, and networking opportunities

  • A guaranteed work placement, which was crucial for confidence and employability

My placement with Women in AI gave me real experience to put on my CV and helped me see AI not as a threat — but as a space full of growth and opportunity.

Life After Supermums: Starting My New Career in AI and Tech

I’m now four weeks into my new role as a Salesforce Administrator at a UK non-profit helping underrepresented students access top universities. I’m part of the data and insights team, helping streamline processes, improve data quality and support the organisation’s mission.

My role includes:

  • Managing their Salesforce org

  • Supporting day-to-day user needs

  • Improving workflows

  • Matching students with volunteer coaches

  • Exploring future AI integrations and supporting their AI roadmap

It’s a fully remote role, which means I can take my children to school and still build a career I love. I visit the Birmingham or London co-working space once a week, which has been great for connection.

The charity is also exploring AI initiatives — and thanks to my Supermums training, I feel ready to contribute confidently.
