Katie built her skills through Supermums to grow into Salesforce careers in the charity sector, combining her charity background with her Salesforce certification.

Previous Role: Sales, Marketing & Fundraising in the Charity Sector
New Role: CRM Manager at Leukemia UK

“Supermums gave me the training, support, and confidence to formally step into a Salesforce role and continue making a difference in the charity sector.”

Katie had already used Salesforce during her career in fundraising and sales within charities, but she wanted to formally retrain and secure a role that combined her data skills with her passion for purpose-driven work. After completing Salesforce Admin training with Supermums, she passed her certification, gained valuable mentoring and experience, and is now thriving as a CRM Manager in the charity sector.

Katie decided to pursue Salesforce careers in the charity sector because…

“I had used Salesforce in a couple of charities before, including during an implementation at Guide Dogs in 2014. But at my last organisation we were stuck with a poor database, and it started to make me fall out of love with what I was doing. I wanted something new that would let me keep making a difference while also building on my data and CRM experience.”

Katie decided to upskill in Salesforce careers in the charity sector with Supermums because…

“I’d heard about Supermums from my data manager in a previous charity, who spoke very positively about the training. Then I saw a post on LinkedIn from a friend who’d retrained in Salesforce, and that inspired me to book a call with Lyn. Lyn was fantastic — realistic, supportive, and encouraging. After talking it through, I signed up for the February 2024 cohort.”

Katie was able to launch her new Salesforce career in the charity sector successfully because…

“The training was excellent — three hours a week online, supported assignments, and mentoring. My mentor from Capgemini was brilliant, and we worked together in a way that suited us. I passed my certification in July, and then completed an internship with a charity, delivering training and gaining valuable experience. I also volunteered to build new skills while applying for jobs. All of this, combined with Supermums’ support, helped me feel confident and ready.”

Katie has now successfully achieved a Salesforce career in the charity sector that offers her…

“I’m now the CRM Manager at Leukemia UK. We’re a £3m charity with 30 staff using Salesforce, funding vital research into blood cancer. This role means a lot to me personally, as one of my best friends died of leukemia in 2020. I work three days a week, which fits my life perfectly, and I’m making a real difference by improving data systems and helping the organisation work more effectively.”

Final Thoughts on Salesforce careers in the charity sector

“Salesforce careers in the charity sector aren’t just about systems — they’re about people. My role is as much change management as it is technical. Supermums gave me the training and network to step into this with confidence, and I’m grateful to be making a difference in a cause I deeply care about.”
