Katerina built her career as an engineer, working in bridge construction for several years before taking a career break to raise her three children. When she moved to Germany, she faced difficulties finding a job that suited her new priorities – she wanted flexibility but found that engineering roles demanded full-time commitment and fluency in German.

A conversation at her child’s kindergarten introduced her to Salesforce, and with encouragement from her husband, who works in IT, she decided to explore it as a career path. Initially apprehensive, she took a few months to gather the confidence to start the Supermums program. Looking back, she believes it was the best decision she ever made, as she now loves her work as a Salesforce Consultant – more than she ever enjoyed engineering.

Katerina decided to upskill and launch her Salesforce career because …

“I studied bridge construction and worked as an engineer for three years before moving to Germany. When I started looking for jobs, I realised it would be difficult to find an engineering position that suited my needs. Employers required full-time availability and fluency in German, and I wasn’t sure I wanted to return to such a stressful role.

Then I met my friend at kindergarten, and she told me about the Supermums course. That was the first time I had heard about it. My husband, who works in IT, encouraged me, saying, ‘Try it, it’s a great opportunity. You don’t have to really speak 100% German. It’s more flexible, and this market is very open.’ I have to say, I was really scared. Jumping into something new, being the newbie, and thinking, ‘Oh my God, I’m more than 30, I have three kids.’ I waited a few months before finally deciding to start the program, and I think it was the best decision I ever made.”

Katerina decided to upskill in Salesforce with the Supermums Admin course because …

“The Supermums program really helped me a lot. I would say, during my first year on the job, I took everything from this course. I liked the complexity of the Supermums Administrator Course. It wasn’t just, ‘Here is Salesforce, tech, tech, tech.’ It explained the entire Salesforce market, the CRM market, and all the different job possibilities – not just being an administrator. I quickly understood how projects work and how businesses use Salesforce.

One of the most important aspects for me was the soft skills because sometimes it’s very technical, but you need to learn these things too. What was also important for me was that I wasn’t alone, I met similar people who were in the same situation, and I saw that I wasn’t the only one making this decision.”

Katerina was able to launch her new Salesforce career successfully because …

“Supermums gave me both the knowledge and the confidence to enter the job market. The structured learning, work experience, and community support made all the difference. The first year in my Salesforce role, I relied heavily on what I learned in the program. It gave me the foundation I needed to succeed.”

Katerina has now successfully achieved a Salesforce career that offers her …

“I work in a consultancy company, which means we implement Salesforce for clients. They come to us, we discuss their use cases, their processes, and then we implement these processes in Salesforce. I have worked on Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Experience Cloud, and I also did Salesforce Maps and Territory Management. Right now, I’m learning AI.

What I really love about Salesforce is automation – flows. I really love when I create something, and when they click the button, something happens, and it guides them through their job.”

“I also have the flexibility I need. I work 70% of the time, mostly from home, which allows me to balance my career and family. I wake up early in the morning, work for one hour, then prepare my kids for school. After dropping them off, I continue working, then take a break when they come home for lunch before resuming my job later. Some days, I push myself to complete tasks even when I don’t feel like it, and other days, I can get so immersed that I spend 10 hours just finishing a task because I love it.”

Where has Katerina’s Salesforce career taken her since she started?

“Since starting my Salesforce career, I’ve not only advanced professionally but also used my skills to contribute to my community. Because we are Czech and living in Germany, I work at a Czech school – a Saturday school. We had a library that was being managed in an Excel sheet, and it was difficult to keep track of everything. I thought, ‘But with Salesforce, I could administrate the library, I could create it for myself.’ So last year, I implemented Salesforce for the school through the Power of Us program. Now we have Experience Cloud, where people can order books, and I’ve started implementing it for overall school administration. We now have all the classes and everything inside the system.

This has become my small project, my hobby. On weekends, I work on it, and I really enjoy it.”

Final Thoughts …

“My journey from engineering to Salesforce has been incredible. I was initially scared to start over, but Supermums gave me the confidence, knowledge, and community support I needed to succeed. Today, I have a flexible, rewarding career that I truly enjoy. If you’re considering making a change, I can say from experience – it’s worth taking the leap.”
