From Stay-at-Home Mum to Tech Career: Helena’s Journey with Supermums

After eight years as a stay-at-home mum, Helena knew she wanted to return to work in a way that offered flexibility, progression, and a fresh start. She had always enjoyed working with data and digital systems, so retraining in Salesforce felt like the right step. Supermums gave her the structure, confidence, and real-world experience she needed to build a new tech career and transition into my role as a Salesforce Administrator.

“Supermums gave me structure, confidence, and a real pathway back into work after eight years at home with my children.”

From Stay-at-Home Mum to a New Tech Career

Before joining Supermums, I worked as a web manager, looking after websites and email marketing for different organisations. I’ve always enjoyed systems and data, and I really liked working with database-style platforms.

But after taking a career break of eight years to raise my children, I knew that when I returned to work, I wanted to do something different — something with growth, flexibility, and long-term opportunity.

I remembered Salesforce from past jobs and started learning online by myself. Very quickly I realised I needed more structure, more accountability, and a clearer pathway to turn it into a real career. That’s when I discovered Supermums.

Why I Chose Salesforce and Supermums

When I started researching Salesforce courses, Supermums came up again and again. I checked Trustpilot, spoke to others who knew the programme, and everything pointed to it being the right fit.

What instantly stood out was how family-friendly and structured it was — exactly what I needed as someone returning to work after a long break.

The key things that made Supermums Ultimate Admin Course right for me were:

  • A learning schedule that aligned with school hours

  • Breaks during half-term and school holidays

  • Weekly sessions that were manageable alongside family life

  • A dedicated mentor to guide me through the learning

  • Work experience arranged for me as part of the course

“The course fitted around my children’s school schedule — that’s what made it possible.”

That work placement changed everything. The organisation I was placed with advertised a Salesforce Administrator role while I was still completing the placement. I applied, got the job, and I’m still there four years later.

My New Career: Becoming a Salesforce Administrator

I now work as a remote Salesforce Administrator for Christians Against Poverty, a charity based in Bradford, while living in London. I work from home full-time and travel up every six weeks or so.

My role includes:

  • Supporting users through our helpdesk

  • Fixing login issues and permission problems

  • Troubleshooting bugs

  • Working on integrations with other systems

  • Managing new features, improvements, and projects inside Salesforce

Every day is different — sometimes it’s like solving a puzzle, sometimes it’s improving a process, and sometimes it’s helping someone make their working day easier. I love the variety.

The Salesforce community has also been a huge part of my journey. I’ve attended:

  • Supermums events

  • Salesforce community meetups

  • Data Cloud sessions

  • Non-profit user groups

  • London Admins groups

Each one has expanded my knowledge and my confidence. I also earned my Salesforce Administrator certification, which my employer supported.

“The community, events, and constant learning make this career exciting — even years after returning to work.”
