As part of our Supermums Consultancy Skills Training Programme, I deliver a module called the Salesforce Consultant Toolkit which is an essential kit of tools and techniques to ensure your project is a success. Having worked as a consultant for nine years and overseen over 700 projects here is a summary of what I believe every Salesforce Admin, Product Owner or Consultant should have in their toolkit to give their project the best chance of success.

Risk Analysis Framework

From my years of experience I’ve collated a list of 20 typical risks that need to be appraised and mitigated where possible for a Salesforce project. Do you have a Risk analysis framework ready to discuss with your client/team.

Software Tools

There are a wide range of software tools that you might need to deploy for your project from CRM, Project Management, Communication, Security, Process Modelling, Document Sharing and beyond. I’ve collated a list of the most frequently trusted products for my trainees.

Onboarding Enablement

There are set of onboarding tasks that need to be completed to kick off the project on time. This includes system set up tasks and preparing stakeholders for the pending project to avoid risk of delay. The stakeholders involved need to be educating on the CRM implementation process and what is required of them to set up everyone for success.

Emotional Resilience

I teach my trainees a range of NLP coaching tools and techniques that you can use to empower themselves to build their own inner confidence and manage emotional challenges. Managing a Salesforce implementation can be a stressful and an emotional process for everyone involved so it’s important to be mindful of this and to look after your own well-being as well as other stakeholders using coaching as well as other relaxation techniques to weather the storm.

Project Task List

I’ve counted up to 70 tasks that need to be completed on any one project depending on whether you are working as an internal or external consultant. There are a lot of common tasks for each project and as a project manager you want to manage these accordingly otherwise it’s easy to forget things which could be detrimental. These project tasks will range from marketing, security, deliverables to system license set up and deactivation.

Consultancy Skills

To oversee or manage a Salesforce project it is incredibly valuable to have Business Analysis, Agile Project Management, Change Management, Coaching Skills in your toolkit.
