About the Opportunity

A leading technology organization is seeking an experienced DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to lead the migration of Apache Airflow v2 workloads to Airflow v3 on the Astronomer platform. This role focuses on modernizing workflow orchestration, improving platform reliability, and optimizing data pipelines within a secure, cloud-based healthcare environment.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Airflow migrations, strong cloud infrastructure expertise, and a background supporting healthcare data platforms that require HIPAA-compliant solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the migration of Apache Airflow v2 environments to Airflow v3 using Astronomer.
• Design, optimize, and maintain Airflow DAGs for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Implement infrastructure and deployment automation using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD best practices.
• Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure within AWS environments.
• Build monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions to improve platform health and operational performance.
• Collaborate with engineering and data teams to ensure seamless workflow orchestration and deployment.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare security standards, including PHI and HIPAA requirements.
• Maintain version control and deployment workflows using Git.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Platform Engineering.
• Strong Python skills for automation, scripting, and Airflow DAG development.
• Proven hands-on experience migrating Apache Airflow v2 to Airflow v3 (required).
• Strong experience with the Astronomer platform (required).
• Deep understanding of Airflow architecture, scheduling, DAG development, and workflow optimization.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Strong AWS cloud experience.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
• Proficiency with Git and modern version control workflows.
• Recent experience supporting healthcare data platforms.
• Knowledge of PHI/HIPAA compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with HL7 ADT message formats.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Terraform or Pulumi for infrastructure provisioning.
• Databricks for large-scale data engineering workloads.
• Apache Kafka for event-driven and streaming architectures.
• FHIR interoperability standards and healthcare data exchange.
