About the Opportunity
A leading technology organization is seeking a Backend Python Engineer with expertise in Identity & Access Management (IAM), Single Sign-On (SSO), and authentication technologies. In this role, you will design and build secure, scalable backend services and data integrations supporting enterprise-grade healthcare platforms.
You’ll collaborate with engineering teams to develop secure authentication workflows, data pipelines, and cloud-native services while ensuring compliance with healthcare security standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain secure backend services using Python.
- Build and optimize data workflows across AWS, Databricks, Snowflake, and Kafka.
- Implement and maintain authentication and authorization solutions using modern identity standards.
- Develop secure APIs and backend integrations with a focus on scalability and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare data security requirements, including PHI and HIPAA regulations.
- Implement logging, monitoring, audit controls, and secrets management best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, high-quality software solutions.
- Contribute to automated testing and CI/CD processes for backend services and integrations.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in backend engineering, data engineering, or a related software engineering role.
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Hands-on experience with SQL, AWS, Databricks, Snowflake, and Apache Kafka.
- Experience implementing Identity and Access Management (IAM), Single Sign-On (SSO), authentication, and authorization solutions.
- Solid understanding of:
- OAuth 2.0
- OpenID Connect (OIDC)
- Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
- Token-based authentication
- Identity federation
- Experience designing secure REST APIs and backend services.
- Familiarity with secrets management, audit logging, and security best practices.
- Recent experience working with healthcare data in HIPAA-compliant environments.
- Knowledge of HL7 ADT message formats.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with FHIR and healthcare interoperability standards.
- PySpark and large-scale distributed data processing experience.
- Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipeline experience.
- Experience integrating enterprise identity providers such as Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, or Ping Identity.
