Salesforce is a the world’s no 1 global CRM company, and it’s estimated that it will create 4.2 million new jobs by 2024. With a range of routes depending on your areas of expertise, you could become a Salesforce Administrator, Developer, Marketing manager, Technical Architect, business Analyst – there is such a diverse range of opportunities, no matter your background or experience!

Looking to add Salesforce to your skillset? Here’s how to get started:

First, get an idea of the areas you want to learn. Think about your specialisms here – which roles would suit you most? You can complete specific career-based Trailheads for free at home, and in your own time to help you decide which path is right for you. This is a great way to get started with Salesforce.

Next, think about your learning style and how you learn best.

  • Can you self-manage your timetable?
  • How do you overcome issues?
  • Do you like to learn alone, or as part of a group?
  • How much time can you dedicate to your learning – do you need flexibility, or will it be your main focus?

For some, Trailhead is perfect. You can learn at your own pace, from home and choose your learning path. Think you might need more than Trailhead? Don’t panic…there are other options!

Salesforce Training Options

You could attend a Salesforce led training course or bootcamp, either in person or virtually. This helps you delve a bit more into the specialist area and learn the Salesforce product in more detail. To give you an example, the Salesforce Admin course costs approx £3k for five days classroom-based or virtual learning.

Third Party Training Courses

You could opt to complete other online courses from third parties. This is where your learning style is really important. Think about how you learn best – can you absorb things quickly? Do you already have some experience? If you’re a complete Salesforce beginner, or you have some experience of Salesforce of CRM? What do you want to achieve from your learning – is it a flexible job, more money, experience?

If you’re looking at online courses, then you should consider Supermums. Our Supermums Admin programme gives you six months’ guided online learning with a weekly timetable, 1-2-1 mentor support, coaching and valuable work experience. You’ll be guided by our certified Salesforce learning team (they will set you weekly tasks and homework!) and when you’re ready, you’ll work with your mentor to complete a live project to give you real hands-on work experience. Then, once you graduate we’ll also help you to find a Salesforce role which works for you, and help coach you through interview stage and into your new role.

Supermums might be for you if:

  • You like the flexibility of learning during term-time with breaks for Summer, Christmas and Half-term holidays
  • You can join weekly online webinars during a regular set time and day
  • You flourish in a group environment and enjoy peer support
  • You like structure and working to a clear timetable

  • You respond well to coaching and mentoring to help build confidence and skills

We spoke with some our our Supermums, and here’s what they said about how the course format works for them:

‘I think the live webinars worked well, as we could interject if we needed clarification on something at the time.’

‘I found the format helped me keep on track as I had weekly deadlines to complete the learning objectives’

‘The format of the course, in terms of being in a specific cohort with weekly webinars and homework, really worked for me’

‘It was really good to start using Salesforce in a real life system. i enjoyed working through problems and figuring out how to implement things.’

‘ I liked having a group of people to work with and learn from. I liked interacting with the tutors’

‘For me, gaining insight into working with a project manager was useful and interesting as this is a world of work that i have never worked in before.’
