Is Salesforce a Good Career Choice? We get asked this on a daily basis by people interesting in training with us.

The answer is absolutely yes, and here is why..

What is Salesforce?

People still think Salesforce is just a CRM.

That couldn’t be further from the truth.

Salesforce has evolved into one of the world’s largest agentic enterprise technology platforms and companies, expanding far beyond CRM through innovation and strategic acquisitions.

Today the ecosystem includes technologies such as Slack, Tableau, MuleSoft, Own, Informatica and Fin (formerly Intercom), creating opportunities across collaboration, analytics, integration, AI, data management, customer service and enterprise automation. (Informatica)

Then add the thousands of AppExchange applications built by independent software vendors, giving businesses almost limitless ways to extend Salesforce. Whether it’s AI, finance, HR, marketing, document management or customer service, there’s an app—or several—to meet the need and it’s growing everyday.

Alongside this, you have hundreds of Consultancy Partners who implement these products for companies and End Customers using the raft of Salesforce owned products.

What are the different career paths in Salesforce?

A Salesforce career is not about just becoming an Administrator buts it’s where the journey starts. You need to know the basic principles of the platform.

It’s about helping organisations:

  • Design better business processes
  • Implement and integrate technology
  • Build AI-powered solutions
  • Manage enterprise data
  • Drive user adoption and change
  • Train people to get the most from technology

As businesses become increasingly technology and AI focused, the demand isn’t just for developers. It’s for consultants, business analysts, project managers, architects, change managers, trainers, AI specialists and customer success professionals who can turn technology into business value.

Salesforce isn’t a job. It’s an ecosystem of career and client opportunities up for the taking that keeps expanding year after year. The facts and figures are there…

Why is Salesforce Credible?

To understand the scale of opportunities globally, check out the following facts and figures sourced directly from Salesforce.

There is a Large Product Support Team – Salesforce has over 83,000 employees globally and is recognized as one of the fastest-growing enterprise software companies. They are purpose-driven high performers, lifelong learners, and innovators shaping what’s next in agentic AI.

A Business built on Values – Salesforce advocates core values that everyone aligns to and reflects working in the eco-system. Salesforce’s culture of trust, equality, innovation, collaboration, and continuous growth has earned the company a Great Place to Work certification in 32 countries

It has achieved Year on Year Growth – In its 2026 fiscal year, Salesforce achieved $41.5 billion in revenue, up 10% year-over-year. See more on the Investor Relations page.

The Product is Used by Customers Globally – Salesforce operates in 93 cities, with 110 offices around the world, as they sell their product globally to customers. You can pretty much work anywhere in the world.

The Economy continues to Grow– Between 2022 and 2028, Salesforce and its ecosystem of partners will:

  • Create 11.6 million new jobs
  • Bring more than $2 trillion in business revenue

It’s a Global Community of Professionals – The Trailblazer Community is a network of more than 20 million innovators across the Salesforce ecosystem who help each other learn new skills and succeed with Salesforce. Salesforce celebrates Trailblazers — pioneers, innovators, and lifelong learners.

What are the barriers to progressing a Salesforce Career?

Is Salesforce a good career choice for everyone? There are some essential ingredients to being successful in the eco-system that help you stand out in the crowd. The salesforce job market is competitive like any other, so you have to do more than the minimum.

You have to love continual learning and not just stop at the admin cert!

The problem is often people don’t carve out their niche or progress beyond Admin. As part of the Trailhead Workforce Partner Team we got to learn that an overwhelming % of people never achieve a cert beyond admin.

A high percentage of people all competing for jobs with just one cert under their belt and little experience is going to make it feel tough to land a job.

That’s why we often describe the Administrator certification as the driving licence, not the destination. It opens the door to dozens of specialist career paths rather than defining your entire career.

If you are competing for jobs with just an admin cert you are on a par with everyone else, it’s the baseline.

Sell your transferrable skills and industry experience

Job Specs often say they need 2 years ‘Salesforce’ experience, but this is standard blub. The reality is you want to sell your industry experience and transferrable skills that add value to the type of role you are applying for.

For example a Salesforce Consultancy Partner that implements Salesforce for Financial Services Clients, would love someone with a background in Financial Sevices. However before pitching for the job, you might want to learn and add some trails to your CV on Financial Services Cloud, but this is your opportunity to niche.

If you have previously worked for companies implementing other digital /technology products, then talk about these products and your experience in roles such as business analysis and project management. Over 70% of Salesforce projects integrate with other systems, so these other products might be really relevant and the process will be similar.

Access the Hidden Job Market

You can spend hours applying online to jobs and not hearing back, espcially if you don’t know the company or team. We recommend spending time researching connections, approaching members of the hiring team, and trying to build your network.

Finding jobs and getting shortlisted before they even go out to market is one of the reasons why people join the Supermums training programme, as trainees immediately get access to a global network of alumni and mentors who are advocates and work at amazing brands. Through building your network and connecting on LinkedIn you can start to build your visibility for job opportunities.
