There are a lot of AI agents on the market so how do you choose the right one for your company. At Supermums, over the last six months we have been reviewing different AI agent solutions for small businesses that use Salesforce. We had specific set of requirements to appraise against which are summarised below and Fin came out as the best AI agent for small business that are using Salesforce. We wanted to find the best tool that:

  • Integrated with Salesforce seamlessly
  • Had different knowledge bases for sales and service
  • Had different agents for the website and support desk
  • It was easy to configure and set up
  • It provided mutli-channel solutions.

We explored products including Fin.ai, Forethought Solve, Ada, Crisp, Botpress, Aisera, Einstein Bots and SurveySparrow.

Following a series of demo’s, one product stood out to us: Fin.ai. for it’s extensive range of features.

The product also stood out to Salesforce too, as they recently acquired the company in Sept 26 and added Fin to their product mix.

Find out why below.

Fin is more capable than a traditional chatbot, but more focused than a broad enterprise agent platform. For a growing business that wants to improve customer sales and service journeys without beginning with a major transformation programme, that middle ground is compelling.

Where Fin Fits in the Agent Landscape

Not every organisation needs the same level of agentic AI. The right choice depends on the problem, the data, the actions required and the level of governance the organisation can support.

At one end are focused agents such as SurveySparrow Echo. They are useful when the job is specific, such as gathering feedback, probing a survey response or understanding why a customer gave a particular score. They are easy to set up but their capabilities are more simple and integration more basic.

At the other end is Salesforce Agentforce. Because it is built into the Salesforce platform, Agentforce can use CRM records, Data Cloud, Salesforce permissions, Flows, Apex, APIs and connected applications. It can reason across wider business context and take actions across complex, multi-stage processes.

Fin sits between these two. It is a customer AI agent designed to answer questions, resolve service issues, qualify inbound prospects, follow defined procedures and hand conversations to people when needed. It can work with Salesforce while remaining focused enough to deploy around a defined customer journey.

Agentforce is not automatically better, and Fin is not simply a cheaper Agentforce. They solve different-sized problems. Fin is attractive when the immediate need is practical customer-facing automation. Agentforce becomes more valuable when an organisation needs agents to reason across multiple Salesforce clouds, enterprise data sources and operational processes.

Why Fin is the Agent for Small Business

1. It feels achievable for a growing business

Fin can be introduced around a specific sales or service journey without requiring an enterprise-wide agent programme. Fin has an in-built integration with Salesforce which can be completed quickly, although real readiness still depends on knowledge quality, process design, testing and governance.

2. It works alongside Salesforce

Fin can integrate with an existing Salesforce Service Cloud environment. It can use Salesforce Knowledge and operate through Salesforce Cases and Fin Messenger, with unresolved conversations handed to a human team in Salesforce.

3. It can use governed knowledge

Fin can sync knowledge articles and other support content rather than forcing teams to re-key every article. This matters because an AI agent is only as reliable as the approved knowledge it can access and it avoids duplication. There is one source of truth.

4. It supports distinct customer journeys

A website sales agent and a service agent should not use identical knowledge, guidance or outcomes. Sales may focus on answering questions, qualifying interest and booking a conversation. Service may focus on resolving an issue, clarifying entitlement and escalating safely. It was interesting how many alternatives, didn’t have this option.

5. It can be deployed across customer channels

Fin supports customer conversations through multi-channels from email, agent, slack, whatsapp and more. Cases can created from email or forms and live web chat when used with Salesforce. The wider Fin platform supports additional channels, but the exact options depend on the deployment and integration selected.

6. It provides control over behaviour and escalation

Teams can define tone, answer style, guidance, procedures, routing and escalation. That makes the agent more predictable and helps ensure the customer does not reach a dead end when the AI cannot resolve the query.

7. It offers a measurable commercial model

Fin uses outcome-based pricing, allowing businesses to compare the cost of an AI resolution with the cost and capacity required for a person to answer the same repetitive question. The business case still needs realistic volumes, baselines and success measures.

How to use Fin as an Agent for Small Business

Website Sales Agent

Imagine somebody reaches your website at 9pm. They are interested and have questions, but nobody from the sales team is available. Instead of presenting only a static form, a sales agent could answer approved product or service questions, ask relevant qualifying questions and guide the visitor to the right next step.

Answer product, service, pricing and eligibility questions from approved content

Identify the visitor’s needs and relevant audience

Recommend the appropriate next step

Capture qualified interest

Book or direct the visitor to a sales conversation

This is not permission for the agent to invent recommendations or commercial promises. Its knowledge, guidance and actions need clear boundaries.

Customer Support Desk

Look at your current service desk. How many questions does the team answer repeatedly: how do I, where can I find, what happens if, or why can I not access something?

If the same questions appear hundreds of times, there is a strong case for assessing which of them an AI agent can resolve safely. The aim is not to remove the service team. It is to free people to focus on complex, sensitive and higher-value conversations where human judgement matters.

Fin can use approved knowledge, ask clarifying questions, follow defined procedures, identify when it should stop and pass the conversation and context to a human team.

What are the Steps to set up an AI Agent

The technology is not the starting point. The business problem, knowledge and customer journey are. A sensible implementation follows these nine steps:

The guide expands each step into a practical checklist, including knowledge governance, content segmentation, test design, launch controls and KPIs.

Before You Switch On an AI Agent

Ask these questions before launch:

Which customer problem are we solving first?

Who will use the agent, and what should it never answer?

What is the approved source of truth?

Which articles are public, restricted, sales-only or service-only?

What should happen when the agent is uncertain, detects urgency or reaches a sensitive topic?

What pass rate and failure criteria determine readiness?

How will we prevent restricted content or personal data from being exposed?

What baseline will we use to measure resolution, conversion, time saved and customer experience?

Who owns the agent, knowledge, testing and ongoing improvement after launch?
