The successful candidate will work within the Transformation & Operational Excellence Office, collaborating with cross-functional teams across Student Services, Finance, IT, and other departments to enable data-driven decision-making and enhance university-wide processes.

The Role

This Data Analyst role is pivotal in driving evidence-based decision-making and supporting a major organisational transformation. The successful candidate will turn complex data into actionable insights that improve processes, enhance the student experience, and optimise operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse current processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collect, clean, and interpret data from multiple systems, including Student Records, CRM, and Finance.
  • Design and develop dashboards and reports using Power BI to support operational and strategic decisions.
  • Support future-state process design for major workstreams, including Student Journeys, ERP readiness, and Centralised Services.
  • Perform data quality checks and promote best practices in data governance and compliance.
  • Translate complex data into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Foster a culture of data-informed decision-making across the organisation.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience in data analysis, reporting, and visualisation within complex organisations.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and Power BI or Tableau.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to design dashboards for diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of data protection, GDPR, and ethical handling of data.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Salesforce Education Cloud or similar CRM platforms.
  • Experience in transformation or digital change programmes.
  • Skills in advanced analytics techniques (predictive modelling, statistical analysis).
  • Knowledge of scripting or automation tools such as Python or R.
  • Experience in higher education or regulated environments.

Benefits

  • Access to the university’s LinkedIn Learning platform – providing resources for ongoing professional growth and continuous skill development.
  • Annual performance review – a dedicated discussion on achievements, opportunities, and future career progression.
  • Annual pay progression – salary increases aligned with performance and contributions.
  • Career growth opportunities – these are newly created roles at the university, designed to evolve and expand alongside the successful candidate’s development.
