The first step is to understand what you are passionate about and what makes you shine when you talk about it.
What could your Salesforce niche be in?
- Industry Related – Salesforce focuses on selling its products into certain industry verticals. Do you have relevant experience and a passion for working in certain industries and would you like to focus on this niche?
- Product Related – Do you have a passion for a certain Salesforce product that you want to become an expert in? Do you want to immerse yourself in the product and all of the third-party extensions be it Service Cloud, Sales Cloud, Marketing Cloud, CPQ, MuleSoft and beyond?
- Skill Related – Do you have a passion for Admin, Automation, Business Analysis, Project Management, DevOps, Training, Coding, or Architecture for example and do you want to become a champion for one of these skills and share your top tips?
- Mission Related – Do you have a passion for championing and support certain members of the community that similar backgrounds for example equality groups, locality, or industry customers, just like I did by launching Supermums.

Which Salesforce Career is Right For You!
When you start as a Salesforce Administrator it’s great to have a progression plan with your employer that outlines your learning plan with roles and responsibilities that sets out how a promotion and salary increase can take place. As a Salesforce professional, you should always be learning, acquiring new skills, and developing your potential. There are different career tracts you could take, and we want to help you plan out your journey to learning and earning more.
From starting out as a Salesforce Administrator there are four different career paths you could go down.
- If you enjoy managing the system and users’ day to day and doing the technical work, you can progress your career as a Salesforce admin and advance to CRM Manager.
- If you enjoy gathering new requirements, designing new solutions and implementing the CRM Roadmap, you might want to pursue the Salesforce Consultant role.
- If you enjoy the technical side of the job and want to advance your skills with code, then you can carve out your career as a Salesforce Developer.
- If you have a background in marketing and enjoy maximising customer communications and the ROI, you might want to expand your knowledge with Marketing Cloud and progress your career as a Marketing Cloud Consultant.
