Are you an extrovert or an introvert? Process orientated or goal orientated?

A team is made up of different personality types with their own strengths and weaknesses. Do you know what the right role for you is based on your personality type?

How does a personality tool help you understand yourself and find a job?

There are 2 different types: those that look at skills, if you’re an introvert or extrovert or rated on 1 – 10 scale. The other type assigns you a specific colour or animal based on your answers. On this weeks Mums on Cloud Nine podcast with Paula Gardner, she discusses the DISC method. Conducting these studies, isn’t to put you into a box but to help you understand your perception of yourself, how others view you but also to highlight areas of strength and areas for you to work on. Research has shown that successful team have a diverse mix of these different behaviours so you don’t have to wear every hat!

Last year, The New York Times ran an article with the headline “Personality Tests are the Astrology of the Office”. As businesses compete to employ the best candidates, reduce turnover and increase productivity, it’s no wonder that we have seen a rise in personality assessments or psychological profiling becoming part of companies and their recruitment toolkit.

This week listen to our podcast with Paula Gardner, Career and Business Psychologist & Coach at Scarlet Thinking.

Paula shares advice on how to find roles that suit your personality and explains how to use the DISC model to help you find your perfect role in Salesforce.

Tune in here.

So what is the DISC model and how can it help me find a role that’s right for my personality?

The DISC personality style test helps to easily identify traits in yourself, colleagues and even your family members. So what do the letters stand for and what do they mean?

D – Extrovert and task driven.

These people are driven, determined, decision makers, direct in their communications. This type of personality would suit a Salesforce Consultant and Project Manager role.

I – Extrovert and people focused.

These people are inspirational, bubbly, light a room up, team leaders, people orientated and full of energy. This type of personality would suit a Salesforce Sales, Business Analyst or Change Management role.

S – Introvert and people focused.

These people are sensitive, stable, people orientated, very aware of how someone feels and patient. This type of personality would suit a Salesforce Account Manager, Delivery Manager, Salesforce Admin or Training role.

C – Introvert and task driven.

These people are detail orientated, task focused, critical of themselves and others, strong team players. This type of personality would suit a Salesforce Developer or Architect role.
