How did you get into Salesforce / find out about the Supermums courses?
I found out about the Supermums courses in a Facebook group called Mumabroad Spain in 2017.
What were you doing before transitioning to a Salesforce career / starting a Supermums course?
I was a spanish teacher, I had a Spanish Workshop for kids where I taught Spanish to foreign kids through fun activities.
How was the process of making that change / career pivot? Where there skills and knowledge that transferred particularly well? If you feel you can, include anything you found challenging and how you overcame it.
I needed a change in my life, I wanted a new career, a new challenge. It took me a year to make the decision to start the Supermums course because I didn’t know anything about Salesforce. Then my friend told me what Salesforce was, that he works with it, he encouraged me to learn and start a career in Salesforce.
Although I have no background in IT I think I have some technical skills that made the learning easier than if I had none.
Can you share a little about your experience of the course(s)? What was the best thing about it and what was the most challenging?
I found the course was very well structured, you can learn at your own pace but the deadlines give you the accountability to finish tasks and don’t procrastinate. The material was so complete, everything you need to know to start your career in salesforce.
Please share a little about the work experience element of the course. What did you do? What was good about it? Was it useful?
The work experience element of the course was extremely important for me. I had an amazing experience with my Project Manager. I learnt a lot and it gave me confidence to apply for jobs and start my career. Also it help me a lot to pass the exam.
What do you think is great about the Supermums programme and why do you think people should do it?
I think it is a great programme because it is empowering, it gives you the confidence to do it, no matter how challenging it is to start a new career. The work experience element is really important, it is not the same to learn the theory than to practice in a real life project with the support of experts.
Where do you work now?
What does the business do?
Ebury is a financial services company that provides foreign exchange solutions to small and medium-sized businesses that want to trade internationally.
Do you work flexibility? (Do you ever work from home, can you adapt your hours as suits you?)
I work fulltime from home. The working hours are fixed but there is flexibility.
What do you do on a typical day?
A don’t have a typical day because I work in 2 teams, I am a project manager for the technology department . I am responsible for a couple of projects no salesforce related. And I work as a salesforce consultant for one of the squads in the salesforce team. I help gathering and prioritizing requirements from stakeholders and writing user stories with the product owner.
What is the most challenging thing about your role?
The most challenging thing about my role is to find a way to communicate with very technical people, developers and engineers and to face all the new terminology.
What is the best thing about your job?
To be able to transfer my teaching and coaching skills. Working with young people and being able to help to improve processes
What certification do you have and what are you working towards next?
Admin and Sales Cloud Consultant. I want to have the Service Cloud and the Platform App Builder.
What is your favourite thing about Salesforce?
The flexibility of the platform, even if It doesn’t do everything you want out of the box, you could customize it and make what you want of it.
