Sherrian decided to upskill and launch her Salesforce career because..

I had recently moved to the UK with three young children from South Africa, where I had trained as a teacher. Circumstances dictated that teaching wasn’t really going to work out, so I looked for a way to earn money while working remotely and being around for the kids to help with the transition. I ended up finding the Supermums course and was intrigued. My husband had some previous dealings with Salesforce and encouraged me to give the course a go.

I took the plunge and did the course!

I would say the best thing about the course was the flexibility, only a few hours a week of contact time allowed me the flexibility around my children. I was able to do the course work in the evenings and weekends, and so did not cut into my time with my children, which is exactly what I was looking for. 

Coming from a teaching background, I was a bit nervous as to whether I would have the skills to be able to manage the course as I have no business background, but the course is written for people like me, for people who haven’t got a clue what they are doing on a computer, so that gave me the added confidence to keep going every week and to finish the course.

I enjoyed the weekly webinars and there was also ample opportunity to ask questions each week, and with the homework I was able to gain a more in depth understanding of Salesforce.

Sherrian was able to launch her new Salesforce career successfully because….

I really enjoyed the work experience, and my project manager was fabulous. He gave me extra opportunities which I really enjoyed and which helped me. The work experience gave me the confidence to go to interviews. 

The Supermums Recruitment Team helped a lot trying to get me interviews; I felt confident going into them, and when I moved from the South of London to the North of England, I was able to secure three interviews, and the third landed me my first job.

Sherrian has now successfully achieved a Salesforce career that offers them..

My first role was as a Salesforce Administrator. I am currently working as a Database Assistant with a Charity that is completely remote and I work four days a week, so I have a day off to relax and have time out for myself.

This role is the best of both worlds for me as it allows me all the flexibility I was looking for. My mum always worked half days; she was home during the holidays, and it was what I always wanted to be for my kids.

For the time being my goal is to learn as much about data management and manipulation. Once my kids are all at school full time, I will be looking to increase my knowledge and aim for doing the consultant exams.  

Salesforce is growing, it is everywhere, and it provides job security. There is so much you can do with Salesforce, and so many opportunities out there. I know I can accelerate my Salesforce career at a later stage if I want to.
